A letter with the request to allocate a budget for ensuring the temporary storage of seized counterfeit products was prepared by Vlasta-Consulting experts together with the National Automobile Union. At the moment police officers often do not have the ability to transport and store these products which leads to the situation when counterfeit goods are not being transported anywhere from the raid location and are being left for storage at the infringer’s premises under his responsibility for safe storage offender himself (leading to products’ sudden disappearance) or confiscated and stored, but at the expense of the rightholder.
The article focuses on auto parts, and the situation in the sphere is indeed critical. But we want to underline that quite the same situation takes place in all other industries, and one of the most vulnerable industries is household chemicals - dishwashing detergents, shampoos, cleaning products, etc. By average, with our participation an illegal production is being taken down every month, and the amount of seized goods is being estimated not in pallets, but 20-ton trucks.
We are delighted to take an active part in the process of preparing this initiative and express our special gratitude to the leaders of the National Union of Motorists, represented by Anton Shaparin, for his proactive position and readiness to protect the interests and rights of consumers. In parallel with this initiative, we also plan to draw the attention of the government to delays and “obstacles" in the destruction of counterfeit products, closing another «blind» spot that makes it difficult to combat counterfeit goods.
