Vapes and disposable electric cigarettes as Hqd, izi and others are becoming more and more popular with the teenagers nowadays. There is a misperception that such devices are harmless in comparison with the ordinary cigarettes and tobacco heating systems. However, it is not true. The production of the disposable electric cigarettes is not legally controlled; thus, the manufacturers could use any kind of poisonous elements in the vape liquids.
Smoking or vaping of such devices negatively impacts the young health of teenagers (target audience of the electric cigarettes) and cause the tense addiction that furtherly results in serious consequences as heart diseases and respiratory infections.
Although the advertising of nicotine products is banned by Instagram, numerous bloggers -idols of the children are showing smoking in their daily “histories” on their social accounts. The teenagers are following this trend of their heroes and want to be like their cult figures from Instagram and Tik-Tok. Vape-shops are dealing with the famous influencers by purchasing the PR of their electric cigarettes that allows them to place the advertisements on the news feed of millions of teens. Unlike ordinary cigarettes, these devises are presented for sale online and could be purchased by teenagers.
In the framework of combating these trade, Alexey Solomanidin, executive director of “Vlasta-Consulting” company has shared his opinion on this problem with ‘NTV” channel: “All the commercials and sales of disposable electric cigarettes are aimed at young people. There is no age verification for online sales, thus it is not possible to confirm that the consumer is an adult”. It is a high necessity of developing legal framework to ensure that the sales are not possible for teens as well as implement the sanctions for the violators selling the devises not to adults.
