On March 11, 2024, Executive Director of Vlasta Consulting Alexey Solomanidin gave an interview to the Russia-1 TV channel, in which the issue of saturating the Russian market with counterfeit motor oil of foreign brands was discussed.
It was noted that in this market segment there was a complete withdrawal from the Russian market by a number of the largest foreign manufacturers - who not only completely curtailed sales of their products, but also stopped participating in the fight against counterfeiting.
As a result, a significant share of their market has passed into the hands of violators, who are actively saturating the market with counterfeits. At the same time, the quality of counterfeit canisters and packaging is often so high that they leave no chance for the average consumer to protect themselves from purchasing counterfeit products.
